All great and popular talking points of which don’t really seem to matter to the communities way of life. School choice, super easy topic to use to gain popularity and show you know the issues, but does that really matter? Energy, economy and housing, again popular talking points but in the end really mean nothing. This appears to be another candidate with consultants telling her what the popular topics are. Nothing original here. In fact all the candidates seem to have nothing original, all canned consult driven garbage. Some issues that really mean something here in Washoe county, gas tax, the heavy handed red tape for everything, rising costs on the community. I have an office space that sits empty with only an exterior light in. That used to be 52 a month for one light that’s only on in the dark, that fifty two dollars is now almost 90 a month with increasing sewer fees, etc. then there is safety and law enforcement. When is the last time you saw a police officer drive down your street? When was the last time you saw a car driving without license plates? None of these candidates excite me at all. Maybe they tickle your fancy, but why is the question.
My writing about the candidates does not mean that I endorse them. I have communicated with Monica and her campaign manager that they need to be specific, but like other candidates, she has not. I will continue to engage with the candidates and push them to spell out what they intend to do, but my experience is that the campaign managers tell them to be vague so as not to upset some voters. My advice has been to be specific to engage voters.
