With Mayor Hillary Schieve termed out, the field is wide open—and the networks of money and influence are already lining up behind their preferred candidates.
Mike! Thanks again for more critical information that cannot be found elsewhere without a ton of searching!
I (and 100,000+ other citizens) are hoping your excellent exposure of the skulldugary by damonte cartel's kietztke soccer scam has slowed them down. To cancellation of that attempt against Reno. Or switching to dozens of more appropriate areas.
Thanks Mike for the report. We've heard a lot about Reese and there's a lot to dislike. I agree that Taylor seems to be currently free of scandals and it is interesting that Schieve is supporting Reese instead -- I suspect she owes him a lot of favors. I'm curious about Lorton, because in the last election a lot of mud was flung his way by his opponents for various things he's been accused of in the past. I haven't lived in Reno long enough to know the history behind those accusations but some of those seemed a bit outlandish. If you have the time, it would be great if you could publish a report outlining the more serious and credible charges against Lorton and his responses.
Yeah, and I think none of these candidates are good. You have a candidate that is a old businessman who's probably just going to try and cut things without knowing what needs to be cut and what doesn't. You have establishment and donor beholden Dems, scandal-ridden people. Why can't we get a good candidate to vote for?
All of those mentioned need to be replaced. Downtown and the surrounding areas used to be pretty nice and you felt safe being downtown. Today, after many years under these people’s rule, Reno has become a total dump. We never go downtown anymore as we do not feel safe. So many drug addicts, mentally ill and other nefarious homeless people lurking everywhere. For example, my son took our grandkids to the library the other day. They got there at the opening time. He said there were so lay homeless people there waiting to get in or just living there he left. He said it’s no longer for the people, it’s for the drug addicted homeless. Fire them all. They have allowed our once awesome town to go to crap. That’s my opinion .
If there are homeless drug addicts out there, it is the city's failure in its ability to offer housing, shelters, food, programs, really anything to help them. I wish any of the candidates here would be good candidates to fix our problems, but none of them will be. Just by looking into them, none of them will be.
Thank you for this helpful rundown of the mayoral candidates. I am undecided and will need to do a lot more research before landing on who will be best for Reno.

PS
As Reno mayor, she would fill out the Reno council as 85% female.
(Although I guess that means Reece would remain at ward 5.)
