Hey Mike. How about a report on Fat Marmot’s run for mayor? And no, I don’t mean Eddie Lorton.

This seems like utter nonsense on its face. As best I can imagine it, Jacob's so called "Neon Line" would be a Las Vegas Fremont Street north: a central corridor with all kinds of great shit along both sides of 4th street. A hustling and bustling something or another. A soccer field here or there; a concert "venue"; renovated buildings that do exactly what? Who knows. I cannot imagine how this rises piecemeal from the Jacobs-owned 4th street ashes in any timeframe less than decades. And what do we have as current evidence of the wonderfulness of this future vision? What has Jacobs ALREADY done that we can look at with awe and excitement? The repainted Sands. An ugly, leaky, unfinished hotel. An outlier at best. Why would anyone stay (or eat) at the J instead of the Peppermill, the Atlantis, or any other wonderful hotel? Even The Row and it's myriad restaurants and shops has some appeal to certain visitors. Is Jacobs eager to compete with the current GSR, soon to be enhanced with its nascent "mega-venue?" And 55 stories? Surely he jests! Harrah's is 26 stories. I can't see any possible City or resident approval for a skyline buster of 55 stories. Mike lays out all of the dire financing angles, including the enormous debt bombs - oops, bonds - that are coming due. This is just "look over here, not over there" obfuscation. A new shiny object intended to divert from the current dullness. Finally, Mike has pointed out recently that Jacob is cavorting in Malaysia. Perhaps he can hoodwink the islanders with a PowerPoint show. But let's not be bamboozled here in Reno.
